About us
Backyard Homes, Built Right
We focus on one thing: adding a second home to Treasure Valley lots, from the first lot check to the final inspection.
Why we focus only on ADUs
An ADU sits at an awkward spot in construction. It's too small for most custom home builders to prioritize and too complex for a handyman: it needs a foundation, a full kitchen and bathroom, utility connections, a permit set and every inspection a house needs. Homeowners end up coordinating designers, utilities and trades themselves, and the project stalls.
ADU Builder Boise exists to take that off your plate. We handle the lot check, design or pre-approved plan, permits, construction and final inspection as one project, with one point of contact and a written estimate up front.
How we work
- Lot check first. Zoning, setbacks, easements, floodplain and utilities, before you pay for design.
- Written, itemized estimates. Design, permits and fees, site work, utilities, structure and finishes listed separately.
- Pre-approved plans when they fit. In Boise, the city's free plans can save thousands in design fees.
- Built for Idaho's climate. Insulation, heat pumps and roofs specified for hot summers, cold winters and snow loads.
- Registered contractors. Work is performed by Idaho-registered contractors. You can check any contractor with the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses.
Who we build for
Our clients are families making room for aging parents or adult kids, homeowners adding long-term rental income, and people who want a separate studio or office with a bathroom. Each brings a different priority: accessibility and single-level living, durability and low maintenance for a rental, or quiet and natural light for work. We design around that use from the start.
The rules are on your side
Boise dropped owner-occupancy and extra parking requirements for ADUs, and Idaho's 2026 ADU law requires larger cities to allow ADUs by right by February 2027. It has never been easier to add a unit in the Treasure Valley, and we stay current on each city's changes so you don't have to.
What working with us feels like
You get one point of contact from the first call to the final inspection. Before construction, you know the scope, the price and the schedule in writing. During construction, you get regular updates at each milestone: permit approval, foundation, framing, rough inspections, finishes and final. If something changes, such as an unexpected utility issue, you hear about it with options and a price before any change is made. When we're done, you get a walkthrough, the warranty paperwork and a unit that's ready to live in or rent.
And because ADU rules are changing quickly across Idaho, we keep up with each city's updates, so your design is based on the rules that apply on the day you submit.
